‘Girls’ Star Allison Williams To Play Peter Pan In Live NBC Production
Big news for Allison Williams! The "Girls" actress has been cast as Peter Pan in the upcoming NBC live production. She joins Christopher Walken as Captain Hook, and admits this is a dream come true for her career. Congratulations!
"I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true," the starlet said in a statement.
"It's such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I'm very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?"
NBC chief Robert Greenblatt sang Williams' praises.
"[Allison] is a lovely rising star on the award-winning show Girls - where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent - and we think she will bring the perfect blend of 'boyish' vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken's powerful Captain Hook," he told Entertainment Weekly.
Williams recently discussed finding fame on "Girls" in an interview with Variety.
"It absolutely changed my life," she said of her first major role.
The starlet also described her first experience on the show.
"The room was filled with women. There wasn't a single man there," she recalled. "My first day on set as a professional actor was shooting the 'Girls' pilot. It was a big moment that was either going to confirm or deny the lifelong belief I'd held that I was going to be an actress."
Not to worry, fans, as the actress does not plan on leaving the show anytime soon!
"I don't want to rush, because I don't want to (keep playing roles) like Marnie," she explained. "I'm looking for a director to have the imagination to say, 'I can see you as a Midwestern woman with a meth addiction.' So doors will open, but you have to navigate them."
