It looks like Nina Dobrev decided to go blonde for the summer at least the bottom half of her hair has.

According to Us Weekly, "The Vampire Diaries" season 5 star debuted a new hair color on Thursday, May 15th at the CW Upfronts in New York City.

The brunette who is know for long dark brown mane showed off some dramatic blonde ombre highlights during the event by rocking loose, textured waves.

To the event, Nina Dobrev, 25, wore an embellished blazer that featured a plunging neckline and a skirt by Alberta Ferretti. The actress who famously portrays Elena Gilbert paired the look with strappy gold Louboutin heels.

In an effort to maintain her luxurious and healthy looking locks, Julianne Hough's best friend relies on the right styling products that are perfect for her hair.

She told Teen Vogue, "Use all kinds of hair masks and try not to style it when you don't need to."

She also suggested a particular protective style. She explained, "You can put a braid in it, or if you're not sure how to create a braid, go to a braid bar and get one."

She added, "It's much better for your hair than running it through irons and heat all the time."

While Nina Dobrev is focused on maintaining a healthy head of hair, her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder is on the prowl for a new girlfriend.

Earlier this week the hunk arrived in Brazil for the launch of the fragrance Azzaro Por Homme and decided to take to Instagram to share his love for Brazil and the work he was doing there.

In one of the photos the actor can be seen holding a Brazilian flag up to his eyes while standing in front of an Azzaro Por Homme advertisement which happens to feature a picture of himself.

Attached to the picture was the caption, "Thank you for more presents Brasil!More love,more screams and thank you Azzaro Por Homme aka @azzaro_official for The love, the trip to Lake Como, the trip to Brasil and for making me smell like a man:) Maybe now I can get a girl! What do you think??? Love, Ian."
