Katie Holmes celebrated her 35th birthday on December 18th welcoming another year on the earth. Tom Cruise's ex-wife was in New York City where she enjoyed the company of loved ones as she entered her mid thirties.

According to Us Weekly, the "Mania Days" star thanked her more than 61,000 Twitter followers for all the well wishes on her special day. She tweeted, "Thank you all for my kind birthday wishes -- you have made my day!"

As the day went on Katie Holmes was spotted with some friends at trendy hotspot Cafe Gitane, a French-Moroccan eatery in Manhattan's Nolita neighborhood minus 7-year-old daughter Suri Cruise who the magazine alleges was most likely in school.

Following her lunch the "Miss Meadows" actress was photographed with a huge smile on her face despite the chilly temperatures in the big city. Holmes was bundled up in a warm black coat, plaid scarf, grey knit hat and bright coral top.

The actress walked along the West Village and hid her face behind a pair of oversized sunglasses. Last year, which was first birthday after filing for divorce from ex-husband Tom Cruise a few months earlier was a happy celebration but very low-key.

She and daughter Suri celebrated her 34th year with a birthday breakfast at Sugar and Plumm, an Upper West Side bistro, bakery, and chocolatier.
