Tom Cruise's ex-wife, Katie Holmes has decided to join Twitter following her divorce and Jamie Foxx dating rumors.

On Friday morning the "Mania Days" actress surprised the world with her first tweet. Katie Homes wrote, "So happy to be on twitter!!!!!! Sending first tweets from South Africa!!!!!"

Katie Holmes who resides in her Chelsea apartment in New York City with daughter Suri Cruise is currently in Cape Town shooting the film adaptation of the popular young-adult novel "The Giver."

In the film she stars alongside Taylor Swift, Jeff Bridges, Alexander Skarsgard, and Meryl Streep, according to Us Weekly.

Holmes posted her first photo featuring herself along with the cast of the film on October 25th.

Following her post of the picture she wrote, "On set today filming the Giver. Love working with directer Phil Noyce am so grateful for such a wonderful experience."

Holmes also re-tweeted a post from the cosmetics company Bobbi Brown as the 34-year-old has an exclusive makeup line with the beauty brand and serves as its ambassador.

The magazine reported that she follows both the company's handle and Brown seeing as she has a close relationship with the makeup genius.

Other familiar names that she follows include Taylor Swift, Vogue and SoulCycle.

In a matter of hours Katie Holmes accumulated more than 18,0000 followers and our guess is that the number will only increase with time.
