Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards are still celebrating their engagement and planning their wedding, which could include Simon Cowell. The "X Factor" judge, 54, reportedly wants to be picked for role of best man in the "Story of My Life" singer's ceremony. 

According to Hollywood Life, the soon-to-be father joked that he would be "disappointed" if he wasn't the best man, responding the celebrity news site's question at the X Factor Top 12 party at Los Angeles' SLS Hotel. 

"Now that you mention it, yes," responded and laughed Cowell jokingly, knowing that the battle for the coveted spot is between Malik's One Direction bandmates,  Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne. "So I'm probably going to be very disappointed." 

Demi Lovato's fellow judge on the music competition show was responsible for forming the super-popular, hit-making British boy band. But will Malik thank Cowell for his mentorship by naming him best man?

It will be a very difficult decision for the "This is Us" star in choosing which one guy to stand up beside him on his big day, reported the celebrity news site.

But if Cowell doesn't get the gig, many fans expect that he will at least receive an invitation to the nupitals, which will supposedly be intimate though many people want in on it.

"I actually wanted to have quite a small wedding," said Edwards to The Sun recently, "but then all the girls in my family are desperate to come and would like to be bridesmaids, too. It's going to be like the movie, '27 Dresses' where the bride has like a billion bridesmaids."
