According to Hollywood Life, the "This is Us" star, 20, told the tale on Sydney Soundcheck on Oct. 23.

"We were watching a film in the back garden," explained Malik. "Her mum was there, my mum was there, my two best mates were there. And yeah, she said yeah."

Malik was very open about popping the question, but is keeping quiet for the most part about his upcoming big day. Reports have said that the couple want to say "I do" before Christmas despite his future mother-in-law telling Real Radio North East's Gary & Lias Show on Aug. 21 that she wanted a long engagement.

The hunky performer publicly announced his proposal to Edwards last August, but left out the romantic details until now.

Edwards recently told the Daily Mail that she's already knee-deep in wedding planning, and will include her Little Mix bandmates in the ceremony. Malik's work with 1D has been keeping him busy, but that doesn't mean he hasn't had time to joke about the "fight to the death" that will help him choose the best man out of his four bandmates, reported HL.
