After two years of being together Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling may be headed for a break up. Sources allege that "The Place Beyond the Pines" stars are reaching their breaking point.

According to Us Weekly, a source revealed that the couple broke up briefly six months ago and that the relationship has remained rocky ever since.

The insider explained, "He can be moody, and she's insecure," adding, "She sees a text from a mystery number and assumes he's talking to other girls."

Friends close to the couple have noticed a shift between Ryan Gosling, 32, and Eva Mendes, 39. Back in July the actress gushed over her boyfriend to pals when she visited him on the set of "How to Catch a Monster."

However, now, "she shuts down anyone who brings up Ryan," a friend said. "It's clear something is wrong."
According to the magazine, even though a rep for Mendes denies any trouble between the two, insiders close to Gosling believes a break up is in the couple's future. The source said, "I wouldn't be surprised if they split for good soon."
