Newlyweds Matthew Morrison and Renee Puente have talked about their recent Hawaiian nuptials at the "Glee" actor's fifth annual Halloween and birthday party Saturday at Hyde Sunset Kitchen + Cocktails in West Hollywood, Calif.

"It ended up being better than I ever could've imagined," Morrison, who turns 36 on Oct. 30, told People of their Maui wedding ceremony held on Oct. 18.

Morrison, who plays Will Schuester on the Fox musical dramedy, called their nuptials "just perfect," even though the weather was not that good leading up to the big occasion.

"I think the biggest surprise was there was a hurricane in Hawaii when we were there, so that led to a lot of, I guess, stress that we didn't really anticipate!" he shared.

"The hurricane brought the most amazing sky" on the eve of their wedding, according to Morrison. "It was a green sunset, which is kind of an anomaly. So that was special."

Good thing the rain stopped at the beginning of the ceremony. "Saturday, it rained the entire day up until the moment my mom and I started walking down the aisle, when it let up," Morrison recalled. "And then it was clear for the whole ceremony, the whole reception, until the moment the band at the end of the night said 'All right, thank you, have a good night.' And then it started pouring again."

The couple also talked about the emotional moments at the wedding.

"I saw a little bit of tears when I was walking down that aisle," Puente told E! News, teasing her husband.

Morrison admitted that he "teared up" when Puente started to say her vows to him. "We both wrote our own vows," he told People. "Both our vows were very us and filled with heartfelt sentiments but also some comedy."

The two also paid tribute to Puente's mother, who passed away last year. In fact, the ceremony took place on her birthday. "I sang a song as a surprise to [Puente]," Morrison told People. "It was 'Top Of The World' by The Carpenters, which was her mom's favorite song."

During the reception, Puente showed off her dancing skills with a Hula performance for her husband, who later joined her for a couple's version.

"It's customary for the Hawaiian bride to dance for her husband," Morrison told E! News, noting that he had never seen Puente perform a Hula before. "It was so beautiful. I was so moved. It was amazing."

"But I'd been dreaming about dancing for my husband since I was like 8 years old, when I would make my dad buy me brides' magazines at the grocery store," revealed Puente. "it was really fantastic."

Last year, Morrison said that he was happy that Puente was not in show business. "I'm very happy. Renee's not in the industry -- I need that normality," the "Music and Lyrics" star told Closer magazine in 2013, as quoted by Us Weekly.
