Director James Gunn revealed that he had a different plan for comic book creator Stan Lee's cameo appearance in the Marvel film "Guardians of the Galaxy." However, Disney, the distributor of the film, rejected the director's idea due to its R-rated nature, according to Collider.

Gunn made the revelation along with his brother, Sean, the motion-capture actor behind the film's Rocket Racoon, Thanos and Kraglin during a panel presentation at the Dragon Con event in Atlanta.

According to the two, Lee was supposed to appear as part of the Collector's exhibit. The tree-character Groot, played by Vin Diesel, would then look at Lee. While face-to-face with Groot, Lee will flip him off with his middle finger, IGN reported.

Due to the obscene nature of the gesture and Disney's reputation as being a kid-centered brand, the studio didn't allow the scene to be included in the film.

This comes as a surprise since the movie's lead character, Peter Quill or Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, also did the same gesture while being examined by officers of the Nova Corps, according to Cinema Blend.

The main difference, however, as pointed out by the entertainment news site, is during that particular scene in the film, Quill is still portrayed as an outlaw. This idea makes his rude behavior more understandable.

In addition, Pratt was playing a totally fictional character. Although Gunn would probably depict Lee as a human-looking alien creature for his cameo, the scene will still not work with Disney due to the comic book creator's history of movie appearances.

In all of the Marvel films he appeared in, the man is still widely recognized as Stan Lee, the 91-year-old writer behind some of the most famous comic books.

Also, since the film caters to kids, seeing a familiar and real person use the gesture in a humorous way might give them the idea that it's okay to imitate the behavior.
