Kanye West wanted to take after pals Jay Z and Beyoncé when it came to controlling photos from his wedding to Kim Kardashian. The power couple received international offers, totaling up to $11 million, but they turned them all down. Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner was NOT happy with this decision.
Jenner receives commission from her children's business interests, so selling those photos would have meant a nice payday for momager. An insider told Page Six she "very much wanted to sell the pictures" and was "none too happy" when Kimye decided against it.
"Kanye is taking a page from Jay and Bey, who own their photos," the source said, noting Jay and Beyoncé control all their photos and share through their social media accounts. The first pictures of their daughter Blue Ivy were posted to Beyoncé's tumblr.
Jenner's opinion was not factored into deciding not to sell pictures.
"These are Kim's wedding pictures," the insider said. "Kim and Kanye were getting offers for money, and they decided with their teams not to take any."
Pictures from Kardashian's last wedding to NBA player Kris Humphries were sold to PEOPLE for $1.5 million. They also paid $300,000 for their engagement announcement.
The nuptials were filmed for a special episode of "Keeping up with the Kardashians."
Jenner also negotiated photo deals from Khloe Kardashian's wedding to Lamar Odom.
Kardashian shared the news with her twitter followers that this wedding would be more private.
"You will see everything leading up 'til and after!' she wrote. "As much as we would love to share these memories on camera, we've decided to keep this close to our heart & share thru photos."
