It looks like "The Vampire Diaries" season 5 Ian Somehalder decided to give fans quite an unpleasant spoiler about his character, Damon Salvatore. Nina Dobrev's ex-boyfriend basically confirmed every fans' worst fear.

According to Entertainment Wise, the CW star took to his Instagram account to post a photo of a tombstone with Damon's name engraved on it. Attached to the picture posted on May 31st was the caption, "Rest in Peace Damon Salvatore. #GameOver :(."

At the end of the Season 5 finale, Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham) got trapped on the other side while trying to save their loved ones.

However, before we could see the other side completely crumble and do away with Damon and Bonnie the screen turned to white and the episode was over.

Of course fans still have that glimmer of hope that Damon will return next season, especially since Ian Somerhalder has already signed on for season 6.

Following the death of his character the hunk took to his Twitter account to tweet out his apologies about the season finale.

Fans are hopeful that Damon will return so he and Nina Dobrev's character Elena Gilbert can be together once again.

Off screen, the costars dated from 2011 to 2013 before splitting. However, new reports are claiming that the two have secretly begun dating once again but are doing their best to keep their rekindled romance a secret from the public.
