Johnny Depp and Amber Heard typically keep very quite about their dating life however, a source close to the couple recently revealed some exclusive details about "The Rum Diary" stars' romance.

According to People, the lovebirds, who consist of "The Lone Ranger" star, 50, who was in a long-term relationship with girlfriend Vanessa Paradis for 14 years resulting in two children and the "Paranoia" actress, 27 whose last relationship was with a woman are engaged.

Now, a source has decided to reveal why the "Into the Woods" star was so quick to put a ring on his girlfriend's finger.

The insider said, "She's a great match for him and his individuality," adding, "She's a free spirit."

In 2011 Amber Heard met the heartthrob on the set of their 2011 movie where they shared instant chemistry.

At the time, the starlet said, "You can't help but adore his talent, his passion, his magnetic force that pulls you into all his brilliance."

While Depp had a full house with Paradis, 41, Lily Rose, 14, and Jack, 11, Heard was in a relationship with photographer Tasya Van Ree.

In 2011 the actress openly admitted to Playboy that she is bisexual. She explained, "In the past I've had successful relationships with men, and now I'm in this successful relationship with a woman. When it comes to love I am totally open."

In 2012 Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis split and it wasn't long before Heard was spotted with Depp and even photographed tagging along with him and his children for an international press tour for "The Lone Ranger" film.

Seeing as they seemed to be going strong, the actor asked his much younger girlfriend to marry him. A source admitted, "They couldn't be happier."
