After weeks of speculation and high anticipation from fans, Jamie Dornan has officially been confirmed for the "Fifty Shades of Grey" Christian Grey role following Charlie Hunnam's exit from the trilogy.

According to Variety, the films' selected the Irish actor and model, 31, who currently plays Sheriff Graham Humberton ABC's "Once Upon a Time." You may also recognize his hot body from Calvin Klein underwear ads in which he striped down for the shoots.

The film adaptation directed by Sam Taylor-Wood will now star Jamie Dornan opposite Dakota Johnson, who remained in the role of Anastasia Steele since the initial casting of the lead character.

Dornan will star in the erotic flick, based on E.L. James' bestselling S&M trilogy.

According to Us Weekly, the actor who has also appeared on the British series "The Fall" and in Sofia Coppolla's film "Marie Antoinette" beat out fellow finalists Billy Magnussen, Luke Bracey and rumored Scott Eastwood for the part with sources saying the majority of the screen tests took place late last week in Hollywood.

"The audition process was an embarrassment of riches," the source added, "There were some fierce performances!"

"Everyone trusts that he'll make an excellent Christian and will do the role justice."

Unlike the "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam, 33, who quit the movie trilogy over the script and other issues, Dornan is "all in," an insider said.

"His contract is set -- this has the potential to make him a huge star."

The source added, "Jamie has a really good reputation as someone easy to work with, easy going and is seen as someone who will very appreciative of this role."

"It's his charm and personality that is winning people over."

An insider said that as far as Dakota Johnson goes, "She's ready for this role."
