It looks like Charlie Hunnam's role in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie was not about the money... or maybe it was!
As the "Sons of Anarchy" star dropped out of the highly anticipated film adaptation more details behind his departure are surfacing including a possible issue concerning his paycheck.
According to Us Weekly, a new report from The Hollywood Reporter alleges that Hunnam began to clash with director Sam Taylor-Johnson over script revisions and the tension reached its peak in early October.
But what is even more surprising is that the film that is predicted to pull in millions was only paying Hunnam $125,000 for his role as Christian Grey.
The trilogy novels alone sold over 70 million copies worldwide and beat out the "Harry Potter" series as the fastest-selling paperback of all time.
Following Hunnam's decision to quit the film a source told Us Weekly that "ultimately it wasn't worth it."
However, another source told the magazine that Hunnam had doubts from the very beginning. The insider said, "Charlie Hunnam was never going to do Fifty Shades of Grey."
"He told his agents from the beginning he didn't want to do it and was going to pull out."
But a third source insisted that the actor's exit was "truly due to scheduling" conflicts with Sons of Anarchy.
"The role of Christian Grey requires a massive time commitment, a trilogy role in which Charlie and his team were originally very aware of from the start and a major consideration in his hesitancy for taking the role," the insider added.
"Charlie is the lead in a massive TV series and his loyalty will always be to Sons of Anarchy, the SOA family, and fans."
