"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is expected to light up headlines with successful ticket sales this week.
The highly anticipated sequel to Suzanne Collins trilogy film adaptation will hit theaters next month but the advance tickets for the flick go on sale Tuesday, October 1st.
The movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemswoth and Josh Hutcherson among others will begin screening as early as 8 p.m. on November 21st, one day prior to its November 22nd release date, according to E! News.
The celebrity news site reported that the release will have a head start on the "typically stuffed" Thanksgiving weekend box office and is expected to be a top contender for the holiday season.
The film will be featured amongst director Peter Jackson's latest "Hobbit" movie, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," which is opening December 13th, and "Thor: The Dark World," opening November 8th starring Chris Hemsworth who is the brother of "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" actor Liam Hemsworth.
Chief Analyst Phil Contrino said, "It's in a league of its own really," when referring to "Catching Fire."
He added, "This is a contender for biggest movie of the year, not just the fall season."
E! News reported that a Wall Street analyst has the film pegged for a worldwide gross of $950 million, an amount that large would put it just behind Robert Downey Jr.'s "Iron Man 3" which is among 2013's top money-makers.
Last year, the first film of the franchise, "The Hunger Games," grossed nearly $700 million worldwide in the box office. "Hunger games" had the third-biggest-ever opening weekend pulling in $153 million.
"Catching Fire" is expected to succeed the initial film according to BoxOffice.com, which is currently projecting that the film will rank $168 million during its three-day domestic debut.
This amount would rival "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2," which currently holds third place among Hollywood's all-time openers.
