Julianne Hough is beyond words thankful and excited to play one of the lead roles in Fox's upcoming live staging of the '70s' hit musical flick "Grease."

This week, Fox officially announced that the "Dancing With The Stars" judge is going to portray Sandy Olsson in the much anticipated revival, Us Weekly has learned.

Originally portrayed by veteran actress Olivia Newton-John, Olsson was the female lead character who fell in love after meeting John Travolta's Danny Zuko one summer.

"This is my dream role and performing it live on television will be one of the most thrilling opportunities I've had in my career so far," Hough said of her role in the live staging of the 1978 musical classic.

"Grease is one of the movies that made me want to be an entertainer, and I have literally been waiting my whole life to play Sandy," the 26-year-old said of the film. "My siblings and I watched it and played it out over and over when we were kids."

Hough further expressed her excitement over her new project on Twitter.

"I'm SO excited to be joining the cast of #GreaseLive as Sandy! #FOX January 2016 :) #tellmeaboutitstud," she wrote.

Prior to getting cast for the show, Hough starred in the 2011 remake of "Footloose," reports Huffington Post.

Aside from Hough, "High School Musical" alum Vanessa Hudgens was also cast to be part of Fox's "Grease: Live."

The 26-year-old singer-actress is set to play the Pink Ladies leader Betty Rizzo, who was originally portrayed by Stockard Channing.

"Being Rizzo is something I've never imagined, and I love that because it will be a new challenge," the former Disney star said in a statement.

"She is such an iconic character that continues to transcend generations. I cannot wait to bring her to life on live television. I'm going to be a Pink Lady!" she added.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the live staging of "Grease" is said to be Fox's entry into the primetime event musical offering category following NBC's lead of successful shows: "The Sound of Music Live" in 2013 and "Peter Pan" just last December.

"Grease: Live" is set to air on Jan. 31, 2016, Sunday, from 7-10 p.m. EST.
