Bryan Singer is going to be a father!

The 49-year-old "X-Men" director is expecting his first child with longtime best friend Michelle Clunie.

"I can confirm that Michelle Clunie and Bryan Singer are happily expecting a baby together in early 2015," Singer's rep Simon Halls told E! News. "Best friends for 25 years, mother and father are both very excited about the upcoming birth and look forward to co-parenting the child together. The pair have been planning this baby for years and have been trying for the last two."

Some reports claim that Singer is expecting his first bundle of joy via surrogate, but TMZ clarifies that Clunie, best known for her role as Melanie Marcus on Showtime's "Queer as Folk," is not a surrogate.

Sources told the celebrity gossip site that the actress will not get paid for carrying the baby, but the New York City-born filmmaker will cover living expenses, which is more or less the same with informal child support. Tipsters added that the "Superman Returns" director has already bought Clunie a West Hollywood pad that is conveniently located a few houses down from his.

Singer told Out magazine in May that he was bisexual.

"I'm quite bisexual," he said. "In the last five years, I've had two girlfriends-one for two years, one for eight months...In the end, it's probably going to be a guy. I emotionally lean towards male relationships, so I'm happy to say I'm gay, too, if it's a one-syllable, easy answer."

And though he had two girlfriends in the past, Singer and Clunie are not romantically involved, but rather extremely close friends, according to TMZ.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed last month that Singer is officially returning to direct "X-Men: Apocalypse." The upcoming installment to the "X-Men" film series will follow this year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past," which grossed $746 million worldwide. This will mark Singer's fourth "X-Men" film.

On Oct. 10, Singer posted a photo on Instagram with the following caption: "The glamorous casting process begins! #XmenApocalypse."

Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters among many others are reportedly reprising their roles in the upcoming "X-Men" film.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is slated for a May 27, 2016 release.
