Rumors that "The Walking Dead" comic book villain Negan will soon be introduced to the hit AMC series has started to swirl after executive producer David Alpert said last month that he cannot wait to introduce the evil character to the zombie drama.

But in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, comic book creator Robert Kirkman revealed that Negan's possible introduction to the show is something that they have not discussed yet. But if the character would indeed join the show some time in the future, Kirkman said that his storyline would be a significant one.

"While Negan's introduction isn't something that we have planned, that moment would be something that we would build up to in possibly... substantial way," the 35-year-old comic book writer said. "It wouldn't just be an aside or a wink and nudge. That would be a pretty monumental event that would be possibly be something we would shape an entire season around. So, I wouldn't expect that to just be kind of slipped in casually."

In an interview with AMC last month, Alpert said that Negan is much more evil than The Governor (David Morrissey).

"He is just like the coolest f-ing character on the planet," Alpert said. "You thought the Governor was bad news? Man, wait until you meet Negan! He's one of the greatest villains ever created. It's so exciting."

In fact, Negan has a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire that he called Lucille. This was actually the weapon he used to crush Glenn's (Steven Yeun) skull, causing one of his eyes to pop out, in the comics Issue No. 100.

But Yeun seems to be not worried about the potential introduction of Negan to the show.

"Are you dreading when Negan shows up on the show, or do you think that it's not worth worrying about because the odds are good they'd change it up anyway since doing a straight adaptation would be a bit predictable?" Comicbook.com asked the 30-year-old Korean American actor, to which he replied:

"What I will say is, with someone like Negan, there's no way we're not going to have him on the show in some capacity either soon or later. And I think that goes to show,  Kirkman wrote a great, great jumping-off point. Because of that, Scott [Gimple], who's helming the whole thing, is making sure to really tell the story in the right way. So there's no way we can avoid Negan and so for me personally, it's like, 'Bring him on. We'll see what happens.'"

"The Walking Dead" Season 5 premieres Sunday, Oct. 12, at 9:00 p.m. ET on AMC.
