An ad for the fake iOS 8 feature, the Wave, is circulating online and is claiming that iPhone users can wirelessly charge their devices using the microwave, according to Mashable.

The hoax was introduced through a legitimate-looking online ad posted by a group of users on the site 4-chan.

According to the ad, the Wave is the latest featured unveiled for Apple's latest operating system that uses microwave frequencies to charge iPhones.

"Wave is our latest and greatest addition to iOS 8," the ad read. "Wave allows your device to be charged wirelessly through microwave frequencies. Wave can be used to quickly charge your device's battery using any standard household microwave."

The ad then explained that the feature will automatically be activated once the device is placed inside a working microwave. It claimed the microwave must be set at 60 seconds at 700W or 70 seconds at 800W to fully charge the device, NY Daily News reported.

Some iPhone users posted pictures of their burnt devices on Twitter after using the Wave charge. However, it's a bit hard to tell if the users actually fell for the hoax or just making fun of the whole idea.

After the Wave, a similar looking ad surfaced to capitalize on the iPhone 6 Plus' bending problem.

The creators of the ad said the Bend is a mystery feature designed to enhance the viewing angle of the device's screen, according to the Sunday Morning Herald.

"Bend is our greatest achievement yet and we kept it secret so that you could discover this feature all by yourself," the ad stated. "Bend allows you to customize your screen to increase the viewing angle."

"Bend is simple to implement on your new iPhone 6," it continued. "Just press firmly on the back and shape it in a way that suits your needs. Each Bend is unique to the person [who] shapes it making it one of a kind, just like its owner."
