"The Amazing Spider-Man" film series screenplay writer Alex Kurtzman said the character Venom, from the rumored "Venom Carnage" movie, can go beyond the boundaries of morality unlike his web-spinning superhero counterpart.
Kurtzman teased about the character during an interview with MTV while at an event for his CBS show, "Scorpion."
So far, reports indicate that the "Venom Carnage" movie will hit theaters in 2017 and will be set inside the "Amazing Spider-Man" universe, IGN reported.
Despite being named as the arch nemesis of "Spider-Man" in the comic books, Venom is the main protagonist of the upcoming film since based on the title, he is the lesser of the two evils.
For Kurtzman, the villainous nature of Venom will allow the filmmakers to push the character to do things that they wouldn't normally do with good-natured Peter Parker.
"Venom is sort of the flip side in that there are certain lines that Spider-Man won't cross because he's Peter Parker and Peter Parker will only do certain things and Venom is an entirely different character," Kurtzman said.
In other words, working on "Venom Carnage" will offer Kurtzman and his team more creative freedom, Collider reported.
"Venom, in a weird way, is the representation of every line that will get crossed," he continued. "He's such a darker character. I wouldn't even really say more complicated because I think they're both very complicated characters."
"But I think the attraction for me to Venom is the idea that you can do things that you can't do with Spider-Man," he added.
Kurtzman didn't go into detail about what fans can expect to see in "Venom Carnage." But if he will follow the comics, then the film will show the story of Eddie Brock, the host of the alien symbiote that once bonded with Parker, as shown in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3" in 2007, according to Cinema Blend.
As for Venom's co-star, the man behind Carnage is the psychopathic serial killer, Cletus Kasady. He became the villainous character after the same alien symbiote entered his bloodstream.
Unlike Brock whose villainy only stems from his hatred for Spider-Man, Kasady has strong homicidal tendencies that can be traced back to the fictional character's childhood years.
