Replacing Seann William Scott, "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa" star Johnny Knoxville is en route to China for the comedy film "Skiptrace," in which he stars opposite "Kung Fu Panda" star Jackie Chan and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" star Bingbing Fan, Deadline reported.

Directed by action specialist and "The Long Kiss Goodnight" director Renny Harlin, "Skiptrace" has just started filming in China. The entire film will be shot in Guangxi, Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau and Inner Mongolia.

With a "Midnight Run" tone, the story of "Skiptrace" revolves around a Hong Kong detective Bennie Black played by Chan who teams up with a loudmouth American gambler Connor Watts played by Knoxville to save his niece and fight against most notorious criminal in the city, We Got This Covered has learned.

It is still unknown why Scott backed out from playing the American gambler, which is similar to Chris Tucker's role in "Rush Hour" and Owen Wilson's role in "Shanghai Knights."

Lead by Rodney Rothman, the scriptwriting team includes Jay Longino, Brian Gatewood, Alessandro Tanaka, Geoff Moore, David Posamentier, and BenDavid Grabinski.

With Brian Gatewood, Esmond Ren, Damien Saccani and Charlie Coker, Chan is also producing the film, which will be co-produced and co-financed by Dasym Entertainment and Beijing-based Talent International Film.

Other cast members of "Skiptrace" are yet to be announced.

Aside from "Skiptrace," Chan is also currently filming for the 2015 films "Dragon Blade" with Adrien Brody, John Cusack and K-Pop superstar Choi Siwon and "Kung Fu Panda 3," which also stars Jack Black, Angelina Jolie and Lucy Liu among others.

Meanwhile, Chan's 31-year-old son Jaycee Chan is still in detention after being arrested with Taiwanese actor Kai Ko in August for drug abuse.

Since the younger Chan shared drugs with others, he is facing a penalty that is potentially much heftier than the 14-day sentence in administrative detention given to Ko, who was recently released, CBC News reported.
