Yorkville Endoscopy, the Upper East Side, Manhattan clinic, where Joan Rivers suffered respiratory and cardiac arrest while undergoing a throat surgery, is now being reviewed by the New York Health Department, TMZ reported.

Sources told the celebrity gossip website that the agency has already contacted the private clinic two times since Thursday, Aug. 28, when the 81-year-old veteran comedienne was having an outpatient procedure to fix her vocal cords.

New York Health Department officials told TMZ that they were "reviewing the matter" but have not yet  launched an official investigation. The said review could last for weeks or even months, according to the state health officials.

For the time being, authorities are reportedly only looking at the clinic as a whole, and has not yet investigating the specific doctor who performed the surgery.

Rivers' family is reportedly considering filing a lawsuit over the alleged mishandled procedure that caused the "Fashion Police" host's collapse, according to New York Daily News.

"Shock and upset is turning to anger, and they are looking for someone to blame," a source close to the family told the newspaper.

"The night before, she was performing and now she is on life support," the source continued. "An 81-year-old should not have that procedure as an outpatient. Very ill advised."

Meanwhile, Rivers has already been moved out of the ICU, Melissa Rivers said in a statement released Wednesday, Sept. 3, Us Weekly reported.

"My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable," Melissa said in the statement. "Thank you for your continued support."

The news that Rivers was taken out of ICU comes one day after Melissa confirmed that her mother was still on life support.

"At this time she does remain on life support," Melissa said Tuesday. "I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers."
