If you love the 1920's, Josephine Baker is the iconic flapper of the Gatsby era you'll wanna emulate. With so many homages paid to this iconic entertainer including those made by Beyoncé and Rihanna, Ms. Baker's place as a groundbreaking performer has been well etched into history around the world.

Baker rocked the gorgeous flapper style, complete with a super short bob that was kept slicked down to her head with curls that framed her face. Steal Baker's swag and pair her signature hair with smoky eyes and dark lipstick.

Brigitte Bardot would be a super sultry costume pick. Bridgette graced fashion magazine covers, including Elle, as early as the age of 15. She can also be credited with helping to popularize the phrase "sex kitten."

The key to the Bridgette Bardot makeup look is the smudgy, winged cat eye. Go for a nude or pale pink lipstick with a matte finish.  And for hair, volume is key.  Create big cascading curls with hot rollers or large velcro rollers, teasing the curls with a back comb or brush. Apply hairspray for long-lasting hold.

Debbie Harry rose to stardom during the late 1970's, rocking the makeup styles of the era with an unmistakable blend of edge and soft, feminine beauty.

Part punk and part disco chic, Harry blended high-octane pigments of eye palette color together to create the wickedest winged out looks. Combine the 80's style applications of blush with the star's super high cheekbones, and you have the delicious diva that is Debbie Harry.

Mia Farrow proves the power of the pixie is real. The actress's famous short crop made headlines when it was first cut and continues to be an iconic look in hair history. This look is easy if your hair is already short. You could even take your inspiration from Mia's famous role in the movie Rosemary's Baby and get super spooky!

And why not rock out as Joan Jett? Joan is all about her music, but her swag speaks for itself. The rocker queen's shaggy haircut from the 80's has become one of the most iconic, as well as one of the most requested styles in salons everywhere.

The cut framed Joan's face beautifully and her brunette tresses played up her fair skin and rebel persona. So grab a wig and your darkest black kohl pencil to pair with your favorite band tee and a sassy leather jacket.
