Nearly two years have passed since Kristen Stewart was caught having an affair with her married "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders and it looks like her ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson still has a soft spot for her.

According to E! News, the actor sat down for a chat with the June 6th edition of The Hollywood Reporter to talk about life after the "Twilight" cameras have stopped rolling and the star admitted he is still in contact with his ex-girlfriend.

Following their split, when asked if he still keeps in touch with Kristen Stewart, without a second thought Robert Pattinson said, "Oh, yeah."

Despite moving on to other films after the blockbuster franchise of "The Twilight Saga" the 28-year-old admitted he is having difficulty escaping his past.

He explained, "Everything changed when they did the marketing, and the general public started to view [the films] in a different way when they started to push the 'team' aspect of it. It was like, 'I'm on Team Edward or Team Jacob.'

"That saturated everything, and suddenly there was a backlash. Whereas with the first [film], there wasn't a backlash at all."

Before being cast as Edward Cullen, Pattinson admitted that the, director of the first film, Catherine Hardwicke called him at 2:30 a.m.

He confessed that the two had a "ridiculous conversation, and I hadn't read the books or the script or anything and I just bulls--tted on the phone."

At his audition, Robert Pattinson revealed, "They were doing screen tests with four people. In one of the scenes, I [was meant] to take my shirt off, and I think I was the one guy who didn't."

"Playing Edward Cullen was trickier than one might imagine. "It was quite a constricting character, in a way."

The actor explained, "You want to make [him] as dramatic as possible, but you have someone who never loses his temper, and so it's like, 'How the f--k do you do this?'"

The "Maps to the Stars" actor admitted, "I think that was one of the hardest jobs I've ever done."

While earning positive reviews for his performances in the film as well as "The Rover "during the Cannes Film Festival, Robert Pattinson revealed that he has a few more tricks up his sleeve.

He explained, "I don't know if I've really particularly found my feet as an actor yet," adding, "I have to prove certain things."
