It is a big day for Austin Mahone thanks to his "Mahomies!" The young star debuted his new single "The Secret" which skyrocketed to the number one spot on iTunes. He also packed out "The Today Show" on Monday for a live three song performance. Congratulations to him!

Fans lined up as early as Sunday morning to catch the "Mmm Yeah" singer in action. He performed hits such as "What About Love" and spoke with the hosts about his rising career.

"It's been a lot of work, but I mean my fans are the reason I'm here, so I've got to give it up to them," he said.

However Mahone has had some awkward encounters with fans, including one who jumped in his car when he was leaving a show.

"I looked over, and I was like, 'I've never seen you before!'" he laughed.

Mahone has had a busy trip in New York, including another live performance Tuesday at the Billboard Twitter Real-Time Charts Launch Event at the Paramount Hotel's Diamond Horseshoe.

"It feels amazing to not only release my first project, to have my first EP come out, but to have my song 'Shadow' reach No. 1 on the chart," he explained before the performance.

He also discussed how vital Twitter is for himself and his career.

"It's so, so important to me," the "Shadow" singer stated. "I like to tell my fans where I'm going next and what I have coming up."

As for down time, Mahone visited the Milk Music listening station at the Samsung Galaxy Soho Studio.

Mahone rose to fame after posting videos to YouTube and gaining a following. He announced in 2012 that he was signed to Chase/Universal Republic Records. He is currently signed to Young Money Entertainment and Cash Money Records.
