David Schwimmer was a huge help in his East Village neighborhood on Monday. A fight broke out in the adjoining building to the "Friends" actor, pouring into the hallway and eventually smashing through a glass window. NYPD officers noticed a camera on Schwimmer's property, and he offered them footage which may now be used in court.

"I am sure it contributed in some form or fashion to the investigation," Sgt. Tom Antonetti of the NYPD told CNN.

Three people were involved in the brawl, which took place at around 5:40 a.m. The 21-year-old Robert Rainey of Newark was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and robbery. An unidentified 26-year-old male was taken to Bellevue Hospital and a transvestite prostitute ran away.

Prior to video evidence police only had stories of those involved to go off of.

Schwimmer bought his Sixth Street home in 2010 for $4 million. He caused controversy in his East Village neighborhood in 2012 when he knocked down the 160-year-old building.

"Four years ago, I would say David Schwimmer was the least popular guy on the block with the construction and all," resident Jayson Fillermutter told Mail Online. "But he has turned out to be a decent neighbor, and I am glad to hear he helped the cops with that stabbing."

The star is best known for playing Ross Gellar on "Friends" which aired for 10 seasons. He also plays Melaman in the "Madagascar" movies and will be seen in upcoming TV movie "Irreversible."

Schwimmer married British photographer and producer Zoe Buckman in 2010 after meeting in 2007. She moved to Los Angeles at the time to be with him and now the pair have a daughter together, Cleo Buckman Schwimmer.
