LeBron James is taking his talents off the court and onto the silver screen. Judd Apatow confirmed in a Facebook video that the NBA star will join his next film, "Trainwreck!"

"I know you're very busy with the playoffs. You need to win a certain amount of games to win ... something," Apatow said to James in the video. "But I just wanted to say we're so glad you're joining the cast of my next film, 'Trainwreck,' and now the world will finally get to see what your true gifts are."

"Trainwreck" was written by Amy Schumer, who will also stars in the film. Fellow co-stars include the likes of Bill Hader, Brie Larson, Colin Quinn, Vanessa Bayer, Tilda Swinton, John Cena, Mike Birbiglia and Method Man.

The latest Apatow comedy will be distributed by Universal, including fellow director Barry Mendel and Erik Baiers overseeing production.

Other upcoming film projects for the basketball player include a documentary based on his early years and the Kevin Hart comedy "Ballers." He recently starred in indie flick "The Cobbler" with Adam Sandler, and made appearances in "The Sitter" and "How High."

Deadline reported in February that James was being considered to star in a "Space Jam" sequel, a role originally played by Michael Jordan. The original flick grossed $230 million worldwide.

How exciting to see the athlete turned actor follow in Jordan's footsteps! But first, James must focus on his basketball career.

The Miami Heat are currently fighting for their third consecutive title, leading the Brooklyn Nets 1-0 in the Eastern conference. Game 2 is set for Tuesday night. James currently holds two NBA championships and four MVP awards.

"Trainwreck" hits theaters July 24, 2015.
