Is Johnny Depp trying to look young for girlfriend his 27-year-old girlfriend Amber Heard? The 50-year-old actor was photographed sporting a new, young hairdo.

"The Lone Ranger" star was a surprise guest at the 2013 BFI London Film Festival Awards on Saturday, October 19th, according to Us Weekly.

Depp was nearly unrecognizable with bleached blonde hair. The actor is know for his brunette locks but clearly has gone in a different direction as his current hair has been lightened to a bright yellow color even though his roots remain dark.

Despite his new look Johnny Depp like dashing and quite slim as he wore a black tux with his new hair parted down the middle.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Depp attended the awards at the Banqueting House to present Christopher Lee, 91, with the BFI Fellowship honor.

During his time on stage the actor said, "It's my great honor to be here."

While complementing Lee, who he starred alongside in several Tim Burton-directed films such as "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Sleepy Hollow and Dark Shadows," Depp referred to the actor as a "wonderful inspiration."

He also quipped that it was "certainly a childhood dream come true to work" with Lee.

Receiving a standing ovation Lee then took the stage and said to the actor, "Johnny, I don't know what to say. I didn't know you were going to be here. It is a very emotional moment for me as you can probably hear."

Depp came to the event solo with no signs of girlfriend Amber Heard in site.

However, Us Weekly acknowledge that Johnny Depp is known for drastically changing his appearance for movie roles and it is unclear as to whether his latest change of hair is due to his current role in the movie adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Broadway musical "Into the Woods."
