"The Vampire Diaries" season 5 premiered on the CW Thursday night and was quick to leave us wanting more. For those of you who missed all the Mystic Falls and Whitemore College drama, we have the recap for you.

Following Damon and Elena's summer of hot and steamy romance it was time for the baby vampire to return to college with her friends Caroline and Bonnie. But the only problem is Bonnie is dead so she won't make move in day.

Stefan is still in the safe drowning at the bottom of the quarry thanks to Silas and Katherine is human following her forced feeding of the cure.

Meanwhile, Jeremy is trying to adjust to returning to high school seeing as everyone thought he was dead and even had a memorial for him.

Matt and Rebekah return to Mystic Falls following a sexy summer overseas but Rebekah quickly departs in the beginning of the show as she is wanted on "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff show, "The Originals."

Over at Whitmore College Elena tells Caroline that that she is worried about Stefan since no one has heard from him all summer to which Caroline explains to her it's probably because she broke his heart and is now shacking up with his brother.

When the girls get to their room and settle in their roommate who is not Bonnie shows up messing their plans up.

They soon find out that their roommate, Megan, drinks vervain water, however, the don't get the chance to ask why because she is thrown off a roof to her death.

Although it is clear to Elena and Caroline a vampire murdered her the school seems to be covering it up and labeling it a suicide. But Elena learns that she is somehow connected with Megan when she finds a picture of her roommate with her father.

Meanwhile Katherine makes her way into the Salvatore mansion where she asks Damon for help seeing as now that she is human she can't protect herself from angry vampires who have a score to settle with her.

When Jeremy isn't busy getting into fights at school and pretending to be bonnie by texting her friends and sending her dad post cards, he spends his time driving Katherine out of town.

The only thing is that Katherine nearly killed him again as she made him crash the car when Damon told him to bring her back so he can give her to Silas in exchange for Stefan.

Towards the end of the episode Matt is back to working at the Grille and sees one of his friends from his trip abroad, Nadia, who stole Matt's Gilbert ring.

But before he could share the weird encounter with anyone else Nadia appears and performed some what looks like a spell on him causing him to pass out.

In the last scene, Silas attends the Mystic Falls End of Summer festival in which he tests his mind control skills in the town square.

Then he kills Bonnie's dad right in front of her.
