Following their split, Ian Somerhalder admitted that he loved Nina Dobrev...well, her along with the rest of "The Vampire Diaries" season 5 cast and crew.

On Tuesday the actor took to Twitter to complain about his earlier call time to shoot on set of the CW hit series but said that he did so for the love of the show, according to Entertainment Wise.

Somerhalder plays Damon Salvatore who is now the boyfriend of his real life ex-girlfriend's character Elena Gilbert.

The actor tweeted, "Do what love-love what you do.At work by dreaded 6:30AM like many... Love these damn people. #TVD cast&cree truly amazing people."

Although the actor did not directly declare his love for Nina Dobrev on the social network he did admit that he loves the relationship that Damon and Elena share in season 5.

According to Digital Spy, he spoke of his character and said, "He got the girl, at a great expense. It's gotta be so strange for this guy. He was so in love with Katherine for so many years, working off the naivety of a 23-year-old man."

The actor went on to say, "To be in love with this woman who really broke your heart, and then all of a sudden to find a woman who is identical in every way, shape and form, who is 160 years his junior."

The fan favorite for Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film adaption added, "What I love about [their relationship this season] is that it's something the audience has really been wanting to see for a long time.

"But bear in mind that this is 'The Vampire Diaries,' so people being happy for long doesn't exist."
