Pinterest has long been a source of inspiration for arts, crafts, recipes, and beauty trends. In a time when most people are staying indoors, Pinterest is a haven for bored minds and consistently provides a stream of ideas, especially for DIY activities. In 2018, Allure writes that users in the US were given the option to filter their beauty searches according to skin tone. Last year, Pinterest integrated a virtual try-on feature that lets online shoppers try different shades of lipstick. Users were able to try on 10,000 shades of lipstick from brands like bareMinerals, Cle de Peau, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, NARS, Neutrogena, NYX Professional Makeup, Thrive Causemetics, Urban Decay and YSL Beauté. Now, Tech Crunch reports that the Pinterest virtual eyeshadow try-on experience has just been launched.

How to activate the Pinterest virtual eyeshadow try-on feature?

Allure demonstrates the easy way to use the new Pinterest virtual eyeshadow try-on feature. Make sure you install the Pinterest app then locate the search tab. Click on the camera icon then tap the "Try On" button which you'll find on the bottom right corner. A selection of lipstick and eyeshadow shades will then appear on the bottom of the page and clicking on the lip and eye icons will allow you to switch back and forth and try numerous combinations. Allure notes that unlike other virtual try-on applications, Pinterest doesn't add any filters so you will realistically see which shades will truly look flattering on you and your natural skin tone.  Allure editorial assistant Gabi Thorne tried the Pinterest virtual eyeshadow try-on feature herself and was glad to discover that you can even choose an eyeshadow palette and try all the shades in that specific palette. She tried the Tarte Tarteist Pro Amazonian Clay Palette and Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Eyeshadow Palette and used filters to see what suited her skin tone best. The app will also show you similar hues from other brands so you can check those out, too. You can directly purchase products once you're satisfied or you can save the results and come back to it later. At this time, you can try around 4,000 eyeshadow shades from brands such as NYX Professional Makeup, Lancome, Urban Decay and YSL. The mix of drugstore and luxury brands will help you find dupes of certain colors as well.
