Coachella had to make changes in its lineup following the announcement from Beyonce that she won't be able to perform at the music festival due to her pregnancy. However, just days after the performer's cancellation, it seems that the organizers found a replacement that will excite fans as much: Lady Gaga.
According to Entertainment Tonight, while Beyonce will have to tend to her unborn twins, Mother monster was booked as a replacement to headline the festival on the two consecutive Saturday nights on April 15 and 22. Goldenvoice and AEG Live, the organizers of the event, are currently finalizing the plans to bring as large a stage production as Gaga brings to her concerts.
Billboard noted that it is especially important for a female headliner to replace Beyonce, as the last woman to have ever headlined the event was way back in 2007, with Bjork. Gaga, however, will be joined by two other headliners, Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar.
Beyonce fans will not have to worry about their Queen Bey ever quitting the festival in general though, she is already geared to headline next year, as announced in a joint statement with the organizers, which took note that Beyonce is following doctors' orders when she was advised to keep a less rigorous schedule for the coming months, as she will already be in her third trimester by then.
Gaga, on the other hand, will hold the crowd not only during her two-Saturdays Coachella appearance but in the weeks after, as she is kicking off her Joanne World Tour on Aug 1, as reported by USA Today. She will be starting her tour at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C., before embarking on different venues across the US, including the Forum in Inglewood, California; the Verizon Center in Washington; and the American Airlines Arena in Miami. Her tour will end on Dec. 14 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
