Despite her critically-acclaimed and commercially successful films, Jessica Chastain has managed to keep most of her private life under wraps, and this practice has obviously influenced the way she deals with dating.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Chastain revealed the reason why she long resisted dating fellow actors. "It just puts a magnifying glass on you," the 37-year-old actress explained. "If you want to be really famous, then date another famous person. But the fame is not the part of my life that I am excited about."

But while she opts not to go out with a fellow movie star, she revealed that she does appreciate a man who understands how show business works. "I think you have to date someone who understands some aspects of the film industry," the "Interstellar" star said. "I mean, I'm going to be in Northern Ireland kissing Colin Farrell, so I have to date a guy who is really confident in himself and isn't insecure about all of that."

Chastain, who received Oscar nominations for both of her performances in "The Help" and "Zero Dark Thirty," also opened up to Glamour magazine for its November issue on why she tries her best to keep her love life private.

"I think it's important not to talk about it," she told mag. "In the future I will. If everything continues on a path, of course it'll be part of the conversation. But until it gets there, I don't want to put any unexpected pressure on something that is so personal and so precious. It's too delicate right now."

Since last year, the Sacramento, California-born actress has been in a relationship with Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, an Italian-born executive for French fashion brand Moncler.

Although cautious of discussing him during her interview with The Telegraph, she told the newspaper that she is "very, very happy" in her relationship with De Preposulo. She even added that he was one of the main reasons why she moved from Los Angeles to New York. "It's just so much closer to Europe," she said.

"They've been dating seriously for awhile now and Gian really likes her," a source told Us Weekly in February last year. "He is a classy guy and completely agrees about respecting their relationship and not flaunting it."

Prior to dating De Preposulo, Chastain was in a long-term relationship with film director Ned Benson before breaking up in 2010, according to Vulture
