Melissa McBride, who plays Carol on "The Walking Dead," recently said that there is definitely chemistry between her character and Norman Reedus' Daryl, even though that connection is "sort of still-unspoken thing" on the hit AMC zombie series.

"There's obviously some kind of chemistry between those two characters," the 49-year-old actress told ComicBook.com. "And part of that is that they have a lot in common as far as where they come from and the struggles that they've each experienced and tried to overcome and continue to in that post-apocalyptic world and they support one another because they understand that in one another."

"It's like, let's see how many steps forward we can get and if one goes backwards, one's there to pull them forward again. Keep an eye out for each other in that way," she added about Carol and Daryl's relationship.

But "The Mist" actress admitted that the chemistry between the two characters is kinda weird: "It's... odd in that nothing has ever been substantiated, so a lot of it I feel like is the creation of the fans."

Though McBride finds the relationship strange, she also thinks that it is lovely. "It's a neat, sort of still-unspoken thing and it's lovely to me, it's very sweet," she said.

She continued: "But no, this phenomenon thing, this whole shipping thing...the fans are just so incredibly passionate and it's something they want to happen, or they've seen things that...I don't know! I love it that they're engaged but no, when you think of early on and then you see today how fervent people are about these hook-ups, I never would have seen that coming either."

But while there are fans who are shipping Carol and Daryl, there are also several viewers who are rooting for a Beth (Emily Kinney) and Daryl romance.

Just recently, Kinney told Entertainment Weekly that there are indeed feelings of some sort between Beth and Daryl. "I would say last season what you saw, there's definitely a connection, and a connection that's growing," Kinney said. "And they care about each other a lot, and so there's definitely something really special there."

But Reedus does not have any intention of choosing between his character's two potential love interests. In fact, the 45-year-old actor loves both female characters so much that he wants a threesome between them in the upcoming fifth season of the show.

"I'm hoping for a threesome this season," Reedus jokingly said at the San Diego Comic-Con last July, according to Variety. "Me and Beth and Carol - the trifecta!"

"The Walking Dead" Season 5 premieres on Oct. 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET on AMC.
