Warner Bros. confirmed Monday, Sept. 29, that Michael Strahan, Donald Glover and Elizabeth Banks are joining the cast of "Magic Mike XXL."

The 42-year-old NFL player-turned-media personality revealed Monday morning on "Live With Kelly and Michael" that he will make an appearance in the "Magic Mike" sequel.

"I'm getting ready to do something that's making me nervous," Strahan said Monday, according to ABC News. "I'm about to do something that started as a joke on the show."

Strahan then admitted to co-host Kelly Ripa that he would wear very little in his upcoming big screen appearance. "It's kind of a thong thing," he said of his outfit for the movie.

In 2012, Strahan, who was still a guest host in the morning show at the time, performed a spontaneous dance - complete with tear-away pants - during an appearance by "Magic Mike" lead star Channing Tatum, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Then the following year, after Strahan officially joined the show as permanent co-host alongside Ripa, the 34-year-old "22 Jump Street" hunky actor visited the program again and formally invited the former New York Giants defensive end to appear in the sequel.  Watch the clip below to know more how Strahan landed a role in the upcoming stripper comedy film.

While Strahan's remarks suggest that he will be indeed playing a stripper in the flick, roles of Glover ("Community") and Banks ("Hunger Games") are still being kept under wraps.

Strahan, Glover and Banks join previously announced cast members including of Jada Pinkett Smith ("Gotham"), Amber Heard ("Drive Angry") and Andie MacDowell ("Cedar Cove"). Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash and Adam Rodriguez are all reprising their roles from the first film, according to Screenrant.

Along with confirmation of the newest additions to the cast, Warner Bros. has also released the film's official synopsis:

Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, "Magic Mike XXL" finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.

Gregory Jacobs is directing the film from a script penned by Reid Carolin and Tatum. It is slated to hit the theaters on July 3, 2015.
