Producers of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" announced Wednesday, Sept. 3, that NeNe Leakes will take on the role of Cinderella's wicked stepmother, Madame, starting Nov. 25, Broadway World reported.

"It's official! I am headed 2 BROADWAY CINDERELLA Nov 25th," the 46-year-old "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star tweeted. "Ain't God good 2 a little black girl from Athens Ga."

This marks the Broadway debut of Leakes, who will be among the final performers to take part in the musical, which will conclude its triumphant two-year run on Jan. 3, 2015.

Leakes will be taking over the role from Sherri Shepherd, who is now rehearsing before her 11-week, limited engagement that starts on Sept. 9 to Nov. 22. The former "The View" co-host, on the other hand, is taking over for veteran Broadway performer Nancy Opel, E! News reported.

On Sept. 9, KeKe Palmer will also make her Broadway debut as Cinderella. The 21-year-old "Akeelah and the Bee" star will be replacing Paige Faure, who will reprise the role in the musical's national tour.

Though the first African-American actress to play Cinderella was pop singer Brandy Norwood, Palmer is the first African-American actress to play the part on Broadway.

"I feel like the reason I'm able to do this is definitely because Brandy did it on TV," Palmer told the Associated Press via Us Weekly of her first-ever Broadway gig. "In me doing this, it shows everybody that everything is possible ... Every girl's dream is that story, so to be able to play [Cinderella] is going to be a dream come true for me. Not to mention that Stuart Weitzman made the glass slippers I'll be wearing."

Broadway star Laura Osnes was the first one to play Cinderella in the ongoing Broadway musical production. "Call Me Maybe" hitmaker Carly Rae Jepsen also played the part for four months earlier this year.
