Though Sam Smith did not win any award from the recently concluded MTV Video Music Awards, the "Stay With Me" hitmaker apparently flew back home to London happy as he found himself rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest stars at the annual event.

"Beyonce asked to meet me, so I went in and said 'Hi,'" the 22-year-old British soul singer told The Mirror. "It was amazing, she took my breath away."

"She said my voice is like butter, so I am done for life now. I don't need to do anything else," he added.

Smith was also surprised to know that even Kim Kardashian knows him.

"I met Kim Kardashian the other week and she knew who I was!" he said in an interview with Digital Spy. "I walked in the room and she was like, 'I should text Kanye [West] saying you're here, he showed me your music.' It's really hard to digest. Also, I don't think you should digest stuff like that."

The 33-year-old "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star introduced Smith before his live performance of "Stay with Me" at VMAs. North West's mama even referred to Smith as her "good friend." Smith also shared that she smells like vanilla, according to The Mirror.

The night before VMAs, Jennifer Lopez bought a VIP spot at Smith's gig at the Avalon Theatre in Los Angeles and met him backstage.

"It was crazy to meet J.Lo," Smith told The Mirror. "She was leaning over the balcony watching me singing, which made me really nervous. I actually get more nervous if I can see faces in the audience."

"I did Wembley Stadium once and that wasn't scary at all as it was just a sea of people. But singing in a room of 20 is scary," he explained.

In Fader's June/July 2014 issue, Smith revealed that that his debut studio album "In the Lonely Hour" was inspired by a man whom he fell in love with but did not love him back.

Now, Smith confirmed that his unrequited love was, in fact, straight.

"It's really tough to explain. But no, he's not gay," he told The Sun according to Daily Mail. "'Nothing ever happened between us. I know he loved me too, but not in that way."
