Sarah Jessica Parker is said to be starring in new crime drama "Busted," based on the non-fiction book "Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love," by Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker.
The rights were optioned by Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, who will bring this on with "True Detective" producer Anonymous Content. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Busted" is currently casting the second lead role.
David Frankel will serve as director and executive producer, and Don Roos will write the pilot. The pair worked together in the past on 2008's "Marley and Me."
"Wendy and Barbara have written an amazing true story, and we're thrilled for it to be SKE's first television project. Sarah Jessica's coming on board, along with David Frankel and Don Roos, is simply a perfect combination that we couldn't be happier about," president Jim Tauber and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment president Carla Hacken said in a statement.
Earlier this month, Parker paid tribute to "Sex and the City" on its 16th anniversary.
"16 years? Can it be?" the former Carrie Bradshaw wrote. "Well I 2nd my beloved @KristinDavis in thanking all of you for the love you have shared for so long. I am humbled."
"Thank you everyone for watching #SATC + supporting us in so many ways!" Davis first tweeted.
Co-star Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, joined in as well, writing, "Saluting 16 years of friendship and family."
Parker has also revealed she would be in for a third "Sex and the City" movie.
"A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell," she told InStyle. "But timing is a peculiar thing. It isn't a decision that can wait forever. I don't want to have to wear muumuus!"
