Beauty Guru Bobbi Brown's Beauty and Wellness Tips

Bobbi Brown proudly wears a Jones Road sweatshirt while promoting her wellness brand, Evolution_18.

Beauty industry veteran, renowned makeup artist and best-selling author Bobbi Brown proves that you can stage a successful comeback at any age. After over 20 years at its helm, Brown stepped away from her namesake makeup brand, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and pursued other interests. As she told Self, "I was able to move into something I believe in 100 percent and not have to argue with people about another contour palette that I refuse to do." Since she left Bobbi Brown Cosmetics in January 2017, People reports that Brown released another book, became a certified wellness coach and launch a website and a wellness nutrition brand Evolution 18. However, it was the launch of her clean makeup brand, Jones Road, last year, that put her back on the beauty map. As expected from Brown's genius, Jones Road has been getting raving reviews. Below are Bobbi Brown's beauty and wellness tips from her four decades in the industry.

Make sure you're well hydrated.

If you're a fan of Bobbi Brown and her former and current makeup lines, you'd know that she's a minimalist and works to let a woman's natural beauty shine. One of her top tips is to stay hydrated. Drink lots of water for better skin and make sure you moisturize. Makeup application will be easier.

Use foundation only where it's needed.

Brown believes that a face full of heavy foundation can be aging. She prefers spot correcting with her Jones Road The Face Pencil in the exact shade of a client's face. Focus on redness, dark under-eye circles and blemishes to create an even and more natural look.

Don't forget your neck.

Brown says that since the neck tends to be lighter than the face, apply and blend bronzer using a brush to give the neck area some color. Use up and down motions to blend the bronzer evenly.

Go for some glow.

One of Brown's bestselling products from Jones Road is the Miracle Balm, which tends to sell out right after restocking. It's a light-reflecting and sheer balm that you can use to enhance your skin or layer over foundation for a subtle glow. Brown also uses it on eyelids and lips and even uses it to tame flyaway hair.

Make your eyes pop.

Brown works with clients of all ages. A common complaint among women is that their eyes look smaller as they age. Brown's trick is to apply brown eyeliner on the top lash line and a light application of the same liner underneath. She then advices to coat lashes generously with a lengthening and volumizing mascara.

Find the time to exercise.

According to People, Brown loves working out and sees it as maintenance. She shares that she's "obsessed" with Peloton classes and also trains with Adrian Williams.

A healthy diet truly helps.

Brown tells self that growing up in Chicago, she grew eating corned beef sandwiches and yo-yo dieted in her adulthood. She started listening to her body, changed her eating habits and felt better over time.  She emphasizes that, "You can't compare yourself to actresses and supermodels." Just find out what makes you feel good from the inside and work from there.

Her favorite products.

Brown tells Vogue she prefers using clean makeup and skincare products and likes Supergoop! She also shares that Augustinus Bader's The Cream is worth the splurge. She uses The Light Salon's Boost LED mask on Sunday and reveals that she has an infrared sauna in her backyard. For her hair, she uses a hair mask from Olapex to fix any dryness. Vogue recommends Olapex Hair Perfector No. 3.
