Taylor Swift Has Not Sworn Off Dating; 'Shake If Off' Singer Says Her Songwriting Method Has Not Changed

Though Taylor Swift has recently been very vocal about the fact that romance is not one of her priorities at this time, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter has not sworn off dating.

"It's not that [I've sworn off dating] as much as I'm just very protective of my happiness," the "Shake It Off" hitmaker told E! News while promoting her upcoming fifth studio album "1989." "I found a place in my life that feels really great and I'm not willing to compromise that for just anyone."

"I'm really happy about the fact that being single doesn't feel like being alone," she added. "I have love in my life, I just don't have a relationship, and that feels really natural right now."

In a recent interview for her British Vogue cover debut for November, Swift opened up about why she is currently not in a relationship.

"Dating or finding someone is the last thing on my mind," the Reading, Pennsylvania-born recording artist said. "I can't picture how it could work with the way my life is. I don't know how a guy is supposed to walk next to his girlfriend when there are 20 men with cameras, and he can't protect his girlfriend because that's the life she chose."

"I just don't see how it could work, so I don't think about it, and I kind of run from it when it presents itself," explained the seven-time Grammy-winning recording artist, who previously dated John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner and Harry Styles, among others. "I don't think any guy really... They think that they would want to get to know me, and maybe date me, but I don't think they want what comes with it."

In addition, Swift also thinks that she is too young to get married. "Not age wise," she told InStyle for its November Issue, as quoted by Celebuzz. "So why try to meet someone right now when I know I'm too young to do something serious?"

"1989," which is set to be released on Oct. 27, is Swift's first ever pop album. And though she jumped from country to pop - at least for this particular album - she said that her songwriting method has not changed.

"The formula for my songwriting has never changed," Swift told E! News. "My sound has changed, my style has changed, so many different elements of my life have changed, but the fact that I live my life, I get inspired by my life, I write songs to deal with my life and to cope with it."

"So it's the same thing as me sitting in class when I was 15 and writing a song about an issue I had or a crush or a disappointment," she continued. "It's just now I'm not sitting in class now, I'm on a plane across the world, but I'm still writing about my life and I swore to my fans I wouldn't change that, and I'm not going to."
