It looks like long before dating her future husband Leighton Meester had a crush on Adam Brody.

According to Us Weekly, a source recently revealed that the "Gossip Girl" star was attracted to "The O.C." actor even before they worked together for the first time.

The insider explained, "She says she always had a crush on him," adding, "She was so nervous to work with him!"

Brody, 34, and Meester, 28, met on set of their 2012 Indie film "The Oranges." The two were secretly married in a private ceremony in February and have since been photographed several times together in New York City.

The brunette beauty is currently starring in the Broadway adaptation of John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" with James Franco and Chris O'Dowd.

Leighton Meester is typically quiet about her relationship with her boyfriend turned husband but did open up a little bit about the couple's romance.

Last month, during an appearance, on "The View" Adam Brody's wife said, "I always want to work with people that I like and love and people that I'm friends with."

She added, "It's nice to mix business with pleasure."

However, when she isn't able to work with her husband Meester relies on technology. A source revealed, "They're crazy about staying in contact," adding, "He texts her the sweetest notes."

Early last month the couple was spotted kissing on the street in NYC. Brody was seen planting a kiss on Meester's lips in broad daylight in Manhattan.

The cute newlyweds looked casual wearing jeans, sneakers and puffy bubble jackets. The actress wore no makeup and kept her hair simple by styling it in a messy bun.

Meanwhile, her husband went for the incognito look wearing a red hoodie over his head shielding his curly hair.

As the actor leaned in to kiss his wife, he gently caressed her face with his left hand while flashing his wedding band.

Adam Brody also leaned in to nuzzle the Leighton Meester's neck and went on to whisper something in her ear.
