Now that "Scandal" season 3 has come to an end and we know Columbus Short will not be returning to the series, there have been rumors that there was going to be a major cast change for Harrison.

According to Us Weekly, on Wednesday, May 7th, Deadline reported that Short's character, Harrison Wright, would be recast following his departure.

The entertainment website went on to allege that they received a press release, claiming that Eric West, "World War Z" actor would in turn replace the 31-year-old.

However, "Scandal's" showrunner Shonda Rhimes quickly took to Twitter on Wednesday evening to slam the rumors from the celebrity site.

She tweeted, "I've never heard of Eric West," adding, "Harrison is not being recast EVER. How about reporters CHECK THEIR SOURCES before running with a story?"

She went on to specifically call Deadline out and wrote, "Um, @Deadline? Handle yourself."

After both ABC and Shonda Rhimes denied Short's role being recast Deadline quickly retracted the story and printed an update.

The correction read, "Sorry, Scandal fans. In the rush of upfront news, a release purported to be from ABC about an actor named Eric West, whose name had been circulated for weeks, replacing troubled Scandal co-star Columbus Short got to me.

"It turns out it was an elaborate hoax, which is very unfortunate. Scandal creator said on Twitter that she has never heard of West and there are no plans to recast Short."

Upon hearing the news concerning his career West took to twitter and wrote, "This is news to me..."

Columbus Short was allegedly fired from the show when he was arrested in March for a felony battery charge only later to be accused of domestic abuse by his estranged wife.

The actor confirmed his departure from the ABC series in a statement. He said, "I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today."

"I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas.

"I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful."
