It looked to be a somber day for Emma Roberts as she celebrated her 23rd birthday on Monday, February 10th.

The "American Horror Story: Coven" actress and her costar boyfriend Evan Peters were spotted heading out for a low-key lunch at Toast Cafe in Los Angeles.

According to E! News, the blonde bombshell who is currently rocking a short haircut was wearing a similar outfits to her beau while grabbing a bite to eat.

While Roberts wore a white T-shirt under an unbuttoned plaid paired with dark jeans and shades her fiancé wore an almost identical ensemble to his girlfriend however, he opted to wear a black T-shirt underneath his plaid shirt instead.

The actress was happy to hear kind words from fans who got a head start on wishing the her a happy birthday on Twitter on Sunday.

The actress took to her account to thank fans on Sunday night. She tweeted, "Thanks for all the birthday wishes already guys!"

Emma Roberts followed thanking fans once again on Monday by writing, "Thank you everyone for the amazing tweets today. Love you guys." The actress even posted pictures of a present and a bouquet of flowers to Instagram.

Unfortunately for the starlet, her birthday happened to fall on the day after her aunt, Nancy Motes who is also the 37-year-old half-sister of Julia Roberts and Eric Roberts, was found dead from an apparent drug overdose .

Julia Robert's rep issued a statement that read, "It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes... confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose," adding, "The family is both shocked and devastated."

Hopefully Emma Roberts found a way to still enjoy her birthday following her tragic loss.
