In "The Amazing Spider-Man" Peter Parker/Spider-Man vowed to keep his girlfriend Gwen Stacy safe and promised her father he would stay away from her right before he died. But from the official trailer and Emma Stone's spoilers we can see that the handsome superhero isn't going to be a man of his word in the sequel.

According to Entertainment Wise, Emma Stone, who plays Gwen, hinted at a deadly ending for her character in the latest installment of the franchise.

She told Ryan Seacreast on January 29th, "I think the intention the whole time has been to tell Gwen's story has closely to the comic as possible."

Although she didn't give too much away fans should be wary of the Green Goblin's presence in the movie. Although Emma Stone may be leaving her real boyfriend Andrew Garfield behind, a new face may or may not be coming to the screen to cozy up to Peter Parker following Gwen Stacy's tragic death.

Shailene Woodley shot scenes as Mary Jane for the second film but it was quickly decided that her character's introduction to the franchise would be put on hold.

With villains like Electro played by Jamie Foxx, The Rhino played by Paul Giamatti and the Green Goblin, Peter Parker will surely have his hands full with protecting New York City and Gwen Stacy may be a resident who's life he may not be able to save.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will release a new sneak peek during the NFL Super Bowl XLVIII
on Sunday, February 2nd. The movie is set to hit theaters on May 2nd.
