As we inch closer to the return of "Glee" season 5 and the 100th episode, one of our favorite original cast members unfortunately will not be returning for the milestone event.

Although, Cory Monteith who died in July 2013 following an overdose from a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol is gone, the hit Fox series will make sure he is not forgotten.

According to Us Weekly, despite his character, Finn Hudson being honored on an emotional episode penned, "The Quarterback," in October 2013, Monteith's passing has since been kept fairly quiet on the show's storylines.

However, all of that is about to change according to the director of the 100th episode, Paris Barclay, who spilled some details while at the 66th Annual Directors Guild Awards on January 25th .

Barclay said, "I don't think it could go much farther without continuing to talk about how that hurts," adding, "There is so much feeling there and it affected the 'Glee' family in such a profound way, and you can expect it to be dealt with in the 100th episode. It definitely comes back and is dealt with in a significant way."

Despite her struggle dealing with the tragic loss, Cory Monteith's girlfriend and costar Lea Michele remained on the musical comedy following her boyfriend's death.

For the 100th episode, the gorgeous brunette will be joined by many of the original cast including Amber Riley, Dianna Agron, Mark Salling, Heather Morris and much more. Also featured in the special two-part episode are fan favorite guest stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristin Chenoweth.

Barclay spoke of the two blondesa and said, "The two of them together are hysterical," adding, "They have a lot of scenes together, and I think they will be clamoring for a spin off after this! The have great chemistry, and they are incredibly funny."

The two-part 100th episode of "Glee" is set to debut on Fox in April.
