Walmart is setting a new record in 2013! The retailer, along with Target and Toys R Us, will open its doors for Black Friday shoppers starting around dinner time on Thanksgiving day.

According to Hollywood Life, a number of stores will end the holiday by welcoming and providing service for shoppers.

Of couse, many retailers offer major deals on Black Friday. And now, several stores want to provide even more hours where customers can get in on the action and buy merchandise.

Walmart, in particular, will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Thursday, two hours earlier than they did in 2012, reported HL.

It seems that every year, retailers are looking to open earlier. But Walmart isn't the only one offering an early bird special, for Target is opening on turkey day, too.

Joining that long list of mass retailers also is J.C. Penney and Macy's, who will both open to the public at 8 p.m.

But Toys R Us beats every other store, ushering customers to come down to start shopping at 5 p.m. But why the rush?

HL reported that since Thanksgiving is later this year, retailers are trying to make up for a shorter holiday shopping season. The 2013 season is six days shorter than usual.

And stores are also concerned about sales due to the 16-day government shutdown, which has impacted consumer confidence, according to the celebrity news site.
