The New Botox? Introducing The New Injectable Filler Juvederm Voluma XC

Close

We've all heard of popular fillers like Botox or have tried them ourselves. Used to help refresh the look of skin and take years off the face instantly, these facelifts in a needle have become all the rage among men and women looking to turn back time without going under the knife. And it looks like an all-new injectable is injecting itself onto the beauty market.

Meet Voluma XC, the first and only Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area, resulting in a subtle lift.

At first glance, Voluma XC appears to be your average dermatological filler. But not only is this injectable being used to fill in those pesky fine lines and wrinkles that crop up as skin loses its firmness with age, but this new wave of surgery free skin care actually reshapes the face!

Dr. Ava Shamban explains as one of the first board certified dermatoligists to use Voluma XC. "When you look at a beautiful face, that middle part of the face, has this beautiful 3-D curve," she told NBC's Extra. That's where Voluma is injected."

For those who covet the chiseled bone structure of celebs like Angelina Jolie or simply want to reclaim their own fabulous sculptural look from youthful days gone by, Voluma XC just might be the way to achieve the same effect without actual plastic surgery. "What's great is it's almost like getting a check implant without surgery," said Dr. Shamban.

The price of Voluma XC is way more affordable as well. With the filler lasting for up to 2 years after the procedure, the cost of the treatment ranges between $800-$1600, depending on the amount of filler you need.

After just 24 hours, patients are able to resume their daily routines as usual. In terms of side effects, experts describe any discomfort as moderate, lasting anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. The most common side effects include temporary reactions at the treatment site such as tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching.
