"Downton Abbey" season 4 spoilers have been released in preparation for the 2014 premiere. New details suggest that Lady Mary may go crazy after her husband, Matthew's death.

As reported by Hollywood Life, the new widow will have a "rough ride" in the upcoming episodes starting with the U.S. premiere on Jan. 5, 2014.

The show's fourth season debuted in the U.K. on Sept. 22, showing the Michelle Dockery-played Mary Crawley having a tough time in the wake of her spouse's death. The season picks up six months after the tragedy, and Lady Mary has a lot on her plate.

Downton's leading lady not only has to raise their child alone, but has to run the estate as well. The character's darker mood this season is reflected in her wardrobe choices, Dockery said according to the show's Tumblr page.

"Normally, three months after someone passed away, the women would start to change into lilacs and greys and purples," Dockery said, "but Mary is refusing, even after six months, to change out of anything black."

Mary goes through an intense mourning process, but she may come out of it okay, Dockery suggested on Tumblr.

"Initially, when we read the storyline with Matthew's death, we all thought, 'What will happen now?'" Dockery added. "But it has taken things down a completely different avenue. Series four is a complete contrast to series three. And I'm still discovering so many sides to her character."

Everyone at the Abbey attempts to make lift Mary's spirits, but she is not ready to forget her husband. And Mary is may even get into a fight or two this season while dealing with her grief.

"She [Mary] puts up a fight when she thinks that he's [Lord Grantham] making the wrong decision," Dockery said about Mary and Lord Grantham's relationship. "That's another lovely aspect of the story for me."
