Diane Von Furstenberg has inspired millions of fashion-loving people worldwide with her impeccable designs and personal style. But her influence doesn't stop there.
According to fashionista.com, DVF through her fairy tale like life has inspired fashion writer and bestselling author Camilla Morton to pen a book titled "Diane Von Furstenberg and the tale of The Empress's New Clothes."
The book recounts the story of how DVF achieved her goals and became such a success. It talks about her professional as well as personal life with a different angle on the classic fable "The Emperor's New Clothes."
"Diane is about empowering women - which is the exact opposite of the parallel tale so I liked the twist. The Empress is a revamped version of "The Emperor's New Clothes," which is the story of a young girl who was swindled and bamboozled by fashion and ends up going out without her dignity. Sometimes looking at the crazy fashions people wear, it does make me think of those crooks in The Emperor's New Clothes and wonder if someone is having a laugh," Morton told fashionista in an interview.
The 65-year-old designer not only inspired the book but also helped Morton with little details and illustrations. "She was amazing, inspiring, and totally hands on. We would email back and forth, and when Diane was directing the color and style for the art, she transformed the story," Morton added.
Furstenberg's life is not a fairy tale just in the book. The designer's real life too is nothing less royal. Married to German Prince Egon of Furstenberg, the iconic designer acquired the title of "Princess." But she had to forgo the title when the former couple got divorced in 1972. Opting to keep the Prince's family name, she still is known as Diane Von Furstenberg. She married Barry Diller in 2001.
"Diane Von Furstenberg and the tale of The Empress's New Clothes" is Morton's third book in the fashion fairy tale series. She has earlier penned books on Manolo Blahnik and Christian Lacroix.
