Casio has announced the launch of the all-new Pro Trek timepiece PRG550B-5. It is an addition to the already popular Pro Trek line of timepieces. The new piece has been crafted keeping in mind a variety of outdoor activities and adventures, delivering enhanced features and capabilities.
Like the previous timepieces from the same line, the PRG550B-5 operates with Casio's Tough Solar Power technology. With a battery life of approximately 6 months without further exposure to light, the watch has a “Power Save” feature that allows it to power down when not exposed to light for a certain period of time, thus conserving energy. The eco-friendly solar battery-powered timepiece can be charged even in low or fluorescent light, doing away with the need for continuous battery changes.
Casio's Pro Trek line consists of triple-sensor timepieces, an altimeter/barometer, thermometer and digital compass. All three of these features accurately monitor nature's elements and are equipped for high energy activities like hiking a trail, conquering a mountain or kayaking, making it a perfect watch for outdoor enthusiasts. The latest addition to the Pro Trek line features a combination analog and digital, with a second hand that acts as a compass needle. This allows the wearer to read the digital display, as well as refer to the needle indicator for directions.
“We are very excited to launch our newest model, the PRG550B-5, to the Pro Trek Line just in time for the holidays," said Shigenori Itoh, chairman and CEO of Casio America, Inc. “This timepiece offers all the tools necessary for successful adventures, while continuing to embrace the outdoorsmen like style for our customers, making it the perfect gift for adventure-seekers.”
Apart from the altimeter/barometer, thermometer and digital compass, the Pro Trek timepiece PRG550B-5 also includes features like 100M water resistant, low temperature resistant (-10 degrees C/14 degrees F), world time (29 cities + UTC), full auto LED light with afterglow, 5 daily alarms, 1/100 second stopwatch (60Min), countdown timer (60Min) and 12/24 hour formats.
The new timepiece is stylish and trendy with a rough-and-tough look, perfect for the man who craves that bit of adrenaline. The features are extremely up-to-date, helpful in guiding the wearer during adventurous activities which may involve various kinds of risks.
The release of the Pro Trek timepiece PRG550B-5 comes close after Casio released its new timepiece from the G-Shock range. The new limited edition G-Shock timepiece was launched in collaboration with world-famous graphic artist Eric Haze to mark the brand’s 30th anniversary.
The new Pro Trek timepiece PRG550B-5 is expected to be available in November 2012 and will retail at $350.
